Sanding Sponges

These Flexible Sanding Sponges are designed for more abrasive sanding tasks, offering a thicker, firmer grip that allows for better control and pressure.

These sponges are ideal for removing old finishes, smoothing rough surfaces, and creating a distressed look. Compared to sanding pads, they are more aggressive and will feel scratchier and less smooth, making them better suited for heavier prep work.

Available in both square and angled shapes, these sponges are versatile for all areas of your project. The angled option is especially helpful for getting into grooves, corners, and detailed furniture profiles, while the rectangular shape works well on flat surfaces.

For lighter prep or a simple scuff sand before painting, sanding pads are recommended. These sponges are best when you need more bite and faster material removal.

Grit Guide

Fine  (Square & Angled)
Perfect for lighter sanding, refining surfaces, and preparing for paint.

Medium/Fine ( Square & Angled)
Ideal for general sanding and smoothing surfaces after heavier prep.

Medium Coarse (Square)
Best for heavy-duty sanding, removing old finishes, and tackling rough or uneven surfaces.

Angled Sponges
Designed to reach into grooves, edges, and detailed areas where flat sanding tools can’t easily reach.

DIRECTIONS

Step 1:
Choose your grit based on your project (coarser for removal, finer for smoothing).

Step 2:
Sand your surface using steady, even pressure for effective abrasion.

Step 3:
Use angled sponges to reach into grooves, corners, and detailed areas.

Step 4:
Wipe away dust with a clean cloth before painting or finishing.

Step 5:
Tap out or rinse the sponge to clean and reuse.

BENEFITS

Dolphin Fine Flexible Sanding Sponges are ideal for more abrasive sanding tasks, offering a thicker, firmer grip for added control and pressure.

These sponges are perfect for removing finishes, smoothing rough surfaces, or creating a distressed look. Available in both rectangular and angled shapes, they make it easy to tackle flat areas as well as detailed grooves and profiles.

Note: These are more abrasive than sanding pads and will feel scratchier. For light scuff sanding, we recommend using our sanding pads instead.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the difference between sanding sponges and sanding pads?
Sanding sponges are more abrasive and “scratchier,” making them ideal for removing finishes or distressing. Sanding pads are smoother and better for light prep and between coats.

When should I use a sanding sponge?
Use sanding sponges when you need more aggressive sanding, such as removing old finishes or creating a distressed look.

Which shape should I choose?
Rectangular sponges are great for flat surfaces, while angled sponges are ideal for grooves, التفاصيل, and detailed furniture areas.

Can I use these before painting?
Yes, but for light scuff sanding before applying Fusion Mineral Paint, sanding pads are typically the better choice.

Are these reusable?
Yes! Simply tap out dust or rinse clean and allow to dry for reuse.
