Fusion™ Extender slows the drying time of water-based paints and finishes, giving you more open time to work your product and achieve a smoother, more even finish.
It’s especially helpful when painting in warm, dry conditions or low humidity, where paint can begin drying before you’ve had a chance to finish your brushwork. A small amount of Extender gives you extra time to brush, roll, or smooth your finish while helping minimize the appearance of brush strokes.
It’s also a great addition when working with Metallics or Tough Coat, where a little extra working time can help create a beautifully smooth finish.

HOW TO USE
Add no more than 10% extender into your paint. Once mixed with Fusion Mineral Paint, apply paint as usual. You will notice a longer open drying time, thus giving you time to work with the paint and smooth out brush strokes.
Once your first coat fully dries, apply a subsequent coat as needed. We recommend waiting at least 4 hours between coats when using the Extender. Should you notice that applying your second coat is lifting off the first, either too much extender was used, or it needs more time to dry and cure before applying another coat.

What do I use Fusion Extender for?
Fusion™ Extender is used to “extend” the open time of Fusion Mineral Paint™ - meaning it takes longer to dry. People use it mainly to help avoid brush strokes and to help make blending really easy.
How do I use Fusion™ Extender?
If you’re doing a large piece, mix 1/4 bottle of Extender into a pint of paint and mix well. We recommend using only about 1 part Extender to 10 parts paint (10 mL of Extender to 100 mL of paint).
I want to use more than the recommended ratio, what will happen?
The more Extender you use, the longer it will take to dry. If you use too much, you could end up with a drying time of more than a day! It will also increase your cure time, which means the paint will take longer to get to its most durable state.
Why does using the Extender make the curing time longer?
The Extender has propylene glycol in it, which draws water toward it. Because it likes to hold onto the water, it takes a long time for the water to evaporate from the paint and cure. The more Extender you add, the more water it holds, and the longer it takes to cure.
