I’ve used Fusion™ on a few pieces now and it’s pretty great stuff. I don’t like prep work – so I don’t do prep work most of the time. If you do want to prep a piece – if it’s really a shiny finish – a quick rubdown with a heavy grit sandpaper will suffice. Fusion™ requires very minimal prep work if any at all. But the very best part? It has a built-in topcoat! Which means you don’t have to use wax or hemp oil or any sort of finish! You can if you want – there are some looks that will use a topcoat of some kind to achieve, but it isn’t necessary. That is the most wonderful thing to me. As beautiful as a wax finish is I don’t enjoy waxing and buffing. Fusion™ paint gives me a smooth, washable finish without the extra work of applying a topcoat.

Fusion™ is self-leveling and ends up with very few brush strokes showing. A good, natural-bristle brush is what I prefer. Fusion™ carries brushes that are formulated just right for their paint.
I used Limestone for the main part, taped off the old brass feet and wheels and took the drawer pulls off. For the center I used the Fusion™ color Prairie Sunset. It’s such a warm, buttery yellow and just feels happy. I used 2 coats of paint in each color.
If you have never painted furniture but think it looks fun, Fusion™ would be a great paint to start with!
